Lewis Hamilton appeared at the Paris Olympics yesterday to support his friend, foil fencer Miles Chamley-Watson, who is part of the US national team.
The semi-finals of the team competition took place on Sunday, in which the American team lost to the Italians, despite such a representative support group, which, in addition to the seven-time world champion, also included the legendary rapper Snoop Dogg, Canadian film actress Nina Dobrev, American snowboarder, three-time Olympic champion Shaun White and a number of other celebrities.
Naturally, Chamley-Watson was upset after the lost match, but Lewis tried to support his old friend.
“Being at the Olympics and feeling the energy of the fans is an incredibly interesting experience! – Hamilton wrote on his social media pages. “When you watch these competitions up close, you are amazed by the dedication, concentration and perseverance of the participants.
I am so proud of you Miles! Brother, I truly admire you for overcoming enormous challenges to reach the finals, but failures only make us stronger, and most importantly, we learn from them. Your best fights are yet to come!
Lewis knows what he is talking about: his two victories this year are the best proof that only through perseverance and tenacity can an athlete overcome even a long series of failures.
In an interview, Hamilton said this about Chamley-Watson: “He’s a very good friend of mine, we support each other all the time and talk almost every day. In general, I know how hard he works and I would like to be there to support him.”
