Yesterday, countless tourists and, in general, drivers and passengers of cars passing through the Furka Pass, located at an altitude of 2,500 meters in the Swiss Alps, could experience a surprise when they saw Alex Albon there.
The Williams driver and his girlfriend, Chinese professional golfer Lily Mooney, are currently spending their summer vacation in Switzerland. According to local tabloid Blick, Alex chose a car that matched his status: a Porsche GT3 RS sports coupe with a 4-liter engine that delivered more than 500 horsepower.
It accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, although of course you can’t really accelerate on mountain bends, but one of the advantages of this sports car is that it fits perfectly on the track, thanks in part to the original design of the rear axle with bow thruster effect. In Europe, such a car costs about 260 thousand euros.
Alex and Lily drove along a picturesque mountain road, admiring the alpine landscapes, taking pictures, including near the Belvédère restaurant, which became especially famous after the film Goldfinger, the third part of Bond, released in 1964. However, this establishment is now closed.
After 14 rounds of the season, Albon sits 18th in the championship with just 4 points to his name so far, although there is no doubt that he is working hard to perform as well as possible.
But this year the Williams car is particularly restless and difficult to drive. However, there is hope that the team can improve in the second part of the championship. In addition, Alex needs to rest well and gain strength for the remaining races.
