Lewis Hamilton travels to Africa

The first half of the 2022 season has been unusually difficult for Mercedes – this team has not played the role of trailing for a long time, when the main task was not to fight for victories, but to overtake the leaders – Red Bull Racing and Ferrari .

Nevertheless, Brackley managed to mobilize all possible resources, which as always were not lacking, and Lewis Hamilton and George Russell regularly climbed the podium before the summer break and in Hungary the young partner of the seven-time world champion even took the lead.

Overall, the team left for the summer holidays in a relatively good mood, as they were able to make some serious progress. After that, Hamilton made a somewhat unusual journey through Africa, the route of which started in Namibia, where he flew in a hot air balloon.

About why he chose Africa, Lewis spoke on his pages on social networks: “This year I will spend my summer vacation in the regions I have dreamed of for years. Finally I am in Africa, on the land where my roots are, and as we admit that this journey opened my eyes to many things, that’s still an understatement, it just changed my life.

I feel like I now look at life in a new way, love animals even more and have come even closer to my brothers who are accompanying me on this journey. Wherever I look, I am surrounded by true beauty and I feel my peace of mind and peace really return to me.

I made my first stop in Namibia and this is one of the most amazing countries I have ever seen. Neither words nor pictures can convey this. Flying in a hot air balloon was an unrealistically interesting experience that I will never forget. I can’t imagine where I could have had a better time.

There is a possibility Lewis Hamilton will have the chance to return to Africa in the near future as active negotiations continue to bring the South African Grand Prix back to the championship calendar after a 30-year hiatus.
