During the Belgian race weekend, Bruno Famen announced that he would step down from his position as CEO and team principal of Alpine F1 at the end of August. However, according to official information from the UK Registration Chamber, Famen was relieved of his duties on 30 July, two days after the race in Spa.
And on the last day of July, Alpine made an official statement that 36-year-old Oliver Oakes, a former racer and now a successful entrepreneur who has worked in motorsport for a long time, has been appointed as the new head of the Formula 1 team.
Famen, however, will remain with Renault and from September 1 wants to concentrate fully on working in the engine building department in Viry-Châtillon, which makes racing engines for all of the French group’s sports programs.
