In the Pitlane Life Lessons podcast, Valtteri Bottas talked about how he once almost ended his Formula 1 career…
Valtteri Bottas: “Our sport has taught me many lessons, I have experienced a lot and I almost retired at one point.
I was fed up with the Formula 1 world and felt it was unfair to me. It was the end of 2018, but I managed to pull myself together and somehow win the first race of 2019. This was a turning point.
Eventually I realized that sometimes you have to step back and look at the bigger picture. That’s what I do now. If there’s even the smallest setback, I try to step back and look around.
I have a family, they are healthy, I still race, I do a job I love, I have a roof over my head. Taking a step back helps you put things into perspective and stop complaining.
It was very important for me to stay within Formula 1.”
