A major legal conflict arose around the sale of tickets for the Dutch Grand Prix. The Platinium Group, which has the exclusive rights to sell tickets from FOM, accuses the organizers of the Zandvoort race of breach of contract.
Platinium Group would sell 35,000 tickets outside the Netherlands, but sales are not very active, so that ten days before the start of the stage, fewer than 8,500 tickets have been purchased. Platinium refuses to pay compensation of at least 3.8 million euros. The organizers of the stage, which largely depends on ticket sales, demand that Platinium honor the agreements.
According to Marnix Leithen, lawyer for the Platinium Group, the organizers do not respect Platinum’s exclusive rights to international ticket sales and give part of it to Verstappen Travel and P1, who also sell tickets to foreign fans.
The situation remains tense and the court’s verdict will be announced no later than August 22, just one day before the start of the Formula 1 weekend in Zandvoort.
