Former Haas boss Guenther Steiner believes Lando Norris still has a chance of winning the drivers’ title this year. To do so, Steiner says McLaren must believe in its own strengths and stop making mistakes.
Gunther Steiner: “Max has the best chance of winning the title, but he can’t afford any more mistakes. If he makes a few more mistakes, he will be under pressure. If McLaren in turn doesn’t make any more mistakes, Lando Norris can get closer to Max.
I’m not criticising McLaren, they’re doing great, but they have to believe in themselves, then they can win all the races. They have to learn to win.
It’s hard to win, even with a good car, but it’s even harder to win consistently. If they can take that last step and start winning consistently… McLaren have to stop being afraid of themselves, and then Lando can take the fight to Max.
If Max doesn’t make mistakes and sometimes settles for a podium instead of a win, he will keep his current solid lead in points. I love Max and he knows it, but he has to be careful in the remaining races.”
