Max Verstappen repeatedly complained about the RB20’s balance before the summer break and called on the team to solve the problem as soon as possible. Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko said the car’s problems will not be solved for the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix.
Helmut Marko: “During the summer break, nothing could be done with the car for two weeks. We need to find the cause of the problems with the car and solve them, because now the balance of the RB20 is nowhere near what we saw in the first three races of the season. But it is difficult to say how quickly we can solve the problems.
I don’t think we have a ready-made solution in Zandvoort. But the team keeps working intensively – we have different ideas, but I can’t say when and how we can implement them.
One thing is clear: qualifying is crucial at Zandvoort, because overtaking on this circuit is virtually impossible. Max is capable of qualifying well, as he has done in the last few races. In Austria and Spa we were the fastest, and in Hungary we were only a few hundredths of a second behind.”
