Sauber will have to change team name at Zandvoort

Since then, the Sauber team has competed in Formula 1 under the name Stake F1. And although no one calls it that – from fans, journalists and their own racers – the team from Hinwil is listed in official documents as Stake F1, but in Zandvoort the name will have to be changed.

The Dutch Gaming Authority (KSA) has issued a statement discouraging any team from participating in the upcoming round with a name that refers to an online casino operator. Stake is not licensed to operate in the Netherlands and uses region blocking to prevent players from that country from entering the premises, but the KSA believes the company is not allowed to advertise in Zandvoort with the team name.

Sauber’s response to KSA’s decision is not yet known, but the team has already been in a similar situation in Australia. In the Melbourne stage, the team competed under the name Kick Sauber.
