Zhou receives technical innovations at Zandvoort

Sauber confirmed that Guanyu Zhou will be given technical innovations that appeared on his teammate Valtteri Bottas’ car before the summer break during the Dutch Grand Prix. Valtteri himself will miss the first Friday practice session and will give up his place behind the wheel of the C44 to Robert Schwartzman.

Valtteri Bottas: “I had a good summer break – regained my strength, trained, rebooted my body and mind. I feel rested and ready for the second half of the season, which starts with the Zandvoort stage.

We have to perform on a special circuit, where the qualities of real racers are expressed thanks to profiled corners and high-speed sections. The Dutch fans create an incredible atmosphere; it is always a pleasure to play in front of such a passionate crowd.

The team has worked hard to analyse the performance of the past races and identify areas where improvement is needed. Qualifying results are very important, so we will work hard to maximise the potential from the start of the weekend. The team will do everything to find the required speed. Hopefully we can be back in contention this weekend.”

Guanyu Zhou: “It’s great to be back at work after the summer holidays. I was happy to spend some time at home, training, relaxing, meeting family and friends, but now I’m looking forward to returning to the Zandvoort circuit.

This track has unique characteristics: it is fast, technical and difficult. It all comes down to finding the right rhythm, which is not easy given the fast turns and elevation changes.

“The team has worked hard to resolve the last issues and I am confident that we will make a step forward this weekend. Now my car will be in the same technical configuration as Valtteri’s, as I will be equipped with new items that he received back in Hungary. The goal remains the same: to turn the season around and I hope that we will make progress in Zandvoort.”
