We have already told you that Mercedes has decided to sign a contract with Andrea Kimi Antonelli for next season, but this has not yet been officially announced. However, this is indirectly indicated by other information that has appeared today in various Italian publications.
The press writes that Antonelli will participate as part of Mercedes in the first free practice of the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. For Kimi this will be his debut behind the wheel of Formula 1 as part of the official race weekend.
From 2022, the regulations stipulate that each team must provide a car twice during the Friday practice session to a driver who has not driven more than two Grands Prix in Formula 1. In recent years, Mercedes has provided a car to Nick de Vries and Frederick Vesty. In 2024, Antonelli will apparently provide both training sessions for the Brackley-based team.
