Ten races before the end of the season, Sauber remains the only team without points to its name. At the FIA press conference in Zandvoort, Guanyu Zhou said that the team has high expectations for the remaining races.
Guanyu Zhou: “I think the results are consistent with the speed of the car, but I think we missed a lot of opportunities to score points at the beginning of the season. I don’t want to go into details about what exactly our problems are related to, but they, including the slow pit stops, caused us to miss the opportunity to score points.
“At the beginning of the season it was easier for us to fight for positions around tenth than in the last four or five races. Unfortunately we were not competitive enough before the summer break, but I am looking forward to the remaining ten races of the season.
At Zandvoort my car will finally be in the same configuration as my teammate, and we have new things planned for the upcoming races. The team has high expectations and we hope to get back into the points.”
Asked about the prospects of staying with Sauber in 2025, Zhou said: “We are in discussions. Hopefully the situation will become clearer in the coming weeks and I will know what to expect next season.”
