The Isotta Fraschini team has withdrawn from further participation in the World Endurance Championship and will not take part in the three remaining stages of the season.
It only made its debut in the WEC this year, but the Italian company unexpectedly decided to cancel this program, although the Tipo 6-C hypercar is already on its way to Austin, where a 6-hour race will be held at the COTA circuit in September. 1.
Isotta Fraschini took part in the championship in alliance with the French Duqueine team, but, as is clear from a statement by the company’s management, “there are no longer any conditions to continue the collaboration with this team.”
The statement also suggests that Isotta Fraschini plans to adjust its racing program and reallocate resources, including by focusing on the production of road-going sports cars. The decision to end its participation in the WEC was taken a month after the company changed management.
In total, Isotta Fraschini managed to drive five races, including the car that finished at Le Mans, albeit in last place in the Hypercar class, nine laps behind the leaders. Furthermore, after five stages of the season, she has no points at all.
The company’s management expressed hope that the team can return to the WEC in the future, but for now we have to admit that there will be one less car at the start of the American leg of the World Championship.
