Tsunoda: It will be more difficult for us in the second part of the season

Yuki Tsunoda predicts that the second half of the season may be more difficult than the first, but according to Japanese driver Visa RB, both he and the team will try to perform as well as possible to maintain 6th place in the Constructors’ Championship.

Yuki Tsunoda: “For the past six years, I couldn’t go back to Japan during the summer vacation, but I finally did and had a great time in my home country. And then he went back to Italy to get back to his normal physical shape, and now it’s even better than in the first half of the season.

This was important in preparation for the second half of the season, especially because I let myself drink too much at home. Obviously I was drinking Red Bull! (laughs)

The first part of the season went well, although in the last five races there were more difficulties, but I think this is due to the fact that the opponents could improve. The teams in the middle group are making fast progress, the results are getting tighter and on some circuits we performed worse than we wanted.

“In fact, the team performed quite confidently in the previous three stages, but I expect that we will have a more difficult time in the second half of the season. However, we will continue to fight for sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship, the team will continue to introduce technical innovations and we will set ourselves high targets.”

With Sergio Perez’s results leaving much to be desired at this stage of the season, the Japanese driver was asked if he was hoping for such a strong second half of the championship that it would give him the chance to become Max Verstappen’s new team-mate at Red Bull Racing in 2025.

“The prospects are the same as all three previous years,” Yuki answered. – If I manage to really show myself, it will attract the attention not only of Red Bull, but also of other teams. So for now everything is the same. There are many different conversations, but I continue to work in the same way as before.

Anyway, I still have no influence on the situation, so I will just try to achieve the best possible result and concentrate on what depends on me.’
