Daniel Ricciardo has made it clear that he is only linking his Formula 1 future to Red Bull, despite the Australian’s future prospects appearing uncertain, with only the four RB and Red Bull Racing drivers leaving him without a contract for 2025.
At the same time, Helmut Marko confirmed again before the Dutch leg of the season that Liam Lawson “will definitely drive one of our cars”, although he did not specify which of the two teams owned by the Austrian company the New Zealand driver will work for.
In this situation there were suggestions that it would make sense for Ricciardo to enter into negotiations with Sauber/Audi, where there is also a vacancy, but he refused to discuss such topics.
“I am very happy to be back,” said Daniel, whose partnership with Red Bull dates back to 2007, when he was just starting out in the European youth series. – If we talk about results, I can now fully concentrate on solving this problem, I don’t have to be distracted by looking for other options.
With this approach I put everything on one card, but I also think that with this approach I can give the best of myself. If this is not enough, well, that’s life, but it seems to me that on the one hand it makes my work extraordinarily intense, and on the other hand it simplifies it somehow.
I think this is the best approach at the moment. And it is not explained by my stubbornness, but by the fact that I really don’t want to go anywhere.
It’s not like everybody calls me and says, “If it doesn’t work out here, we have something for you.” I don’t say that, but I say very sincerely that I don’t want to change the team. Of course, I’ve done that a few times in the past few years, but that can be quite annoying in itself.
I think I earned the right to come back, Red Bull gave me this opportunity and I don’t want to give it up. Okay, so what’s the next step for me in my career? The point is there is no next stage, that’s all.
I appreciate what I have been given now and I try to make sure everything works well for us.
