In the second practice session at Zandvoort, Kevin Magnussen set the eighth fastest time, while Nico Hulkenberg finished last due to an accident…
Kevin Magnussen (8th): “The first practice started in the rain, but at the end we could work a bit on slicks. The second session went well, the car was fast and that is positive.
Nowadays the results are so close that if someone has five or ten kilos less or more fuel, it is all serious, so let’s not jump to conclusions.
Compared to last year, this car is very different in some aspects and I can definitely feel the improvement. There is always something to improve, but that is normal.”
Nico Hulkenberg (20th): “The rear wheel lock was sudden, I didn’t expect something like that. Because of a gust of wind I braked a bit earlier, the car was about to take off, but two or three more circumstances pushed it over the edge – and I took off.
Luckily the impact wasn’t strong, there was no damage, but I did lose time.
The results in the middle group of teams are very tight, we are in the fight, but I have made it more difficult for myself by spending less time on preparation.”
