Alex Albon: New products met expectations

Alex Albon set the tenth fastest time in the second practice session at Zandvoort. The Williams driver said the team had assessed the performance of the new products on Friday, which were working as expected. His partner Logan Sargent set the fifteenth fastest time.

Alex Albon (10th): “Both practices went well, although in the first one we seemed a bit stronger. We studied the new aerodynamic body kit and other new items – everything worked as expected. I won’t say that the behavior of the car has changed significantly, but that was also to be expected.

The team is gradually improving the car, but we need to achieve a bigger increase in speed. There are definitely still areas where we need to improve.

“When I got back behind the wheel after the summer break I felt a bit rusty, and in combination with the wind, rain and sand on the track it was difficult to get back into shape.”

Logan Sargent (15th): “It’s hard to say how the updates are working, because the wind was very strong and unpredictable, so it was difficult to drive. Today it was important to shake off the dust and feel the car again after the summer break – and we managed that.

There are definitely areas where we need to improve tomorrow, but today we managed to achieve most of what we had planned.

There are always opportunities, so we will focus on our own tasks and try to prepare the car as best as possible for qualifying.”
