Horner: The end of the trial was a relief

Christian Horner said it was a real relief for him when he was cleared of allegations of ‘inappropriate behaviour’ brought forward by one of Red Bull Racing’s employees.

On the evening of August 8, Red Bull released a statement saying that an appeal filed by the unnamed employee, who was dissatisfied with the results of an internal investigation that found the team manager not guilty, had been rejected.

Horner has categorically denied all allegations since the very beginning of this story, which broke in February. This weekend in Zandvoort, he made his first public comment on the situation since Red Bull announced it in August.

“The process was obviously very detailed and when the appeal was eventually rejected I was of course relieved,” Horner told Sky Sports News. “So now I can fully concentrate on working on the circuit, which I have been doing since the start of the season, especially as this is Max Verstappen’s home race, and preparing for all 10 remaining races of the season.”

When Horner was asked if he regretted letting the whole scandalous story out to the public, he replied: “It’s a personal matter. I just felt better when the company completed this whole process, and now we can focus all our attention on the work on the track.”
