In mid-June, Flavio Briatore returned to his former Enstone team as executive advisor to Alpine. Following his appointment, the team changed leadership, with Oliver Oakes replacing Bruno Famen.
Speaking to the press in Zandvoort, Briatore identified the biggest problem that prevented the team from achieving success for years: “The team had no leadership.
I believe this was the problem with Alpine. At some point they put the wrong people in leadership positions. The list of such leaders is quite long and the team did not have a list of good leaders.
It is very difficult to manage a team from Enstone because it is a big monster. It is very difficult to manage a team like Alpine from Paris or anywhere. It is necessary to be present in Enstone every day. We need to revive the whole system, we need electric shocks.”
