Alonso: We will try to keep the faster cars

The full Aston Martin team reached the final qualifying for the Dutch Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll posted the seventh and ninth fastest times and expect to stay behind Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton in the race, who will start outside the top ten.

Fernando Alonso (7th): “I am happy with my performance in qualifying today. In addition, both cars in the final are a positive result for the team.

Due to gusts of wind, especially in the ninth and tenth corners, the lap sometimes felt like a lottery. In the first and second part I didn’t feel so comfortable, but I was happy with the lap in the final. I believe we reached the maximum today.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is for clear weather, so we will try to have a good race and keep the faster cars behind us.”

Lance walk (9th): “I had a strong second part of qualifying, drove the first sector fastest and finished fourth at the end of the lap. In the final, however, I couldn’t repeat my lap. I attacked with all my might, but I came up a bit short. Both cars in the final, however, are a good result for the team.

For qualifying we adjusted the settings and it worked well, and we performed well during the session.

Tomorrow there will be several fast cars behind us, but overtaking is difficult on this circuit, so from ninth place I have a good chance to fight for the points.”
