Brown: Our riders are capable of fighting for the win

McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown is pleased with the team’s performance in qualifying at the Dutch circuit and expects Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to battle for victory on Sunday.

Zak Brown: “Lando did a great lap, I didn’t expect his lead to be so big. We could have taken the whole front row, but I agree with 1st and 3rd. Our car has good race pace, so in tomorrow’s race it will be important to get a good start and implement good tactics. But our drivers are capable of fighting for the win, and the car makes that possible. Everyone at McLaren’s Woking base and the race crew here at the circuit are doing a fantastic job. The car has some new features that make the MCL38 even quicker, and it’s clear that the drivers are coping very well with their tasks as well.

The level of competition in Formula 1 is very high and to succeed you need everything to work perfectly, but our team has a very high production culture. However, we have to keep working hard because we know that things can change very quickly in our sport.

If things are back to normal and tomorrow’s race isn’t interrupted by the safety car, then everything will be a fairly simple scenario. I can imagine the distance can be covered with one pit stop.”
