At Zandvoort, Fernando Alonso brought Aston Martin one point ahead of tenth place, with Lance Stroll dropping back after a penalty for speeding in the pit lane…
Fernando Alonso (10th): “We knew that the top four teams would take the top eight positions today, so we were only fighting for ninth and tenth. Unfortunately, the car didn’t have enough speed and Pierre Gasly did better, so he had to settle for one point for tenth place.
We need to work more on understanding the car to find opportunities for improvement. We will analyse the telemetry from this race both on track and at the base before we go on track in Italy next week.”
Lance walk (13th): “We knew there were faster cars starting behind us, so we weren’t surprised when Lewis and Carlos came past. After that I concentrated on keeping the position, because we didn’t have the speed to fight for more.
We will take stock of the weekend and start preparing for Monza, we have to keep working to achieve better results.”
