Danner: Briatore’s signature is visible in Piastri .’s story

According to Christian Danner, a former Formula 1 driver and popular German TV commentator, Flavio Briatore may be related to the scandalous story of Oscar Piastri’s contract situation.

Two teams are simultaneously claiming the services of a talented Australian – Alpine F1, where he is reserve driver this season, and McLaren. It is rumored that Piastri has already signed a contract with her for 2023.

Although Mark Webber is in charge of Oscar’s career, Danner believes that Flavio Briatore, who has a very rich experience in all sorts of intrigue, can play some part in what happens. In addition, it was once Briatore who was Webber’s manager.

“There is definitely a Briatore signature in this whole scenario,” Danner told the Austrian edition of Motorsport-Magazin. – This is the classic Flavio. It was he who could have been involved in the story with Piastri’s contract.”

The German expert believes that if Briatore is really involved in this story in some way, he believes that Piastri is comparable in talent to Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso. Both played at different periods in the teams led by this Italian manager – in Benetton and Renault.

“If Flavio believes in someone, he is able to foresee the development of events and draw up a definitive plan for the future. At the same time, he behaves very tough, which makes sense in such cases, according to Danner. “I can well imagine that Piastri will now be able to free himself from obligations to Alpine and it is hoped that he will spend the next two seasons at McLaren, after which he will have the opportunity to sign a contract with a top team. All this is clearly Briatore’s handwriting.

Of course McLaren is just an intermediate stage. It’s possible that something will not go according to the script, but if everything goes well, it will mean that Briatore is doing everything right.
