The gap between McLaren and Red Bull is getting smaller with every race. Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner is happy that his team managed to create a big lead at the start of the season.
Christian Horner: “We were lucky that our opponents underperformed at the beginning of the season. In the individual competition we have a buffer of 70 points, but this can decrease quite quickly.
It is strange that Lando only won his second victory in this car at Zandvoort. He drives well, gains confidence quickly and we have to work under pressure.
“We have been used to fighting for the championship for years and we will fight as hard as possible in the nine remaining races. McLaren improved a few races ago, in Zandvoort they were very fast, especially with Lando, and we have to close this gap. All our staff at our base in Milton Keynes are committed to this.”
