Sauber is preparing for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix in the hope that the classic Monza circuit will be better suited to the C44 than Zandvoort, where the Swiss team finished last, losing two laps to the leaders.
Alessandro Aluni BraviTeam representative: “We are waiting for the second race of a series of two consecutive stages – and the last one, which will take place on European circuits. Of course, the weekend in Zandvoort was difficult for the team – probably the most difficult since the start of the season, but we continue to work hard and try to change the situation.
The Monza Circuit is one of the most famous circuits on the calendar, having hosted races for nine decades and being the site where many of the glorious pages of motorsport history were written.
The passionate fans in the stands charge us with their energy, and in Monza we always feel extra motivation. Our goal is to perform as well as possible next weekend, so from Friday’s training we will try to make progress.”
Valtteri Bottas: “This week we go to Monza and the difficult weekend in Zandvoort must be a thing of the past and try to take a step forward in terms of results.
The Italian Grand Prix is one of the most historic stages in Formula 1, and it is always a special event, where even in the car you can hear the passionate fans cheering from the stands.
“I love racing at this circuit and I am preparing to race here again next weekend. The work at the team base in Hinwil is on a large scale, everyone is working hard to turn the tide of our season. Hopefully the Monza circuit suits our car better and we can squeeze something different out of the C44, which will allow us to be more competitive and score our first points of the season.”
Guanyu Zhou: “The race in Zandvoort left a heavy aftertaste, but now that is a thing of the past and we return to Italy in the hope of turning the page, because this weekend the European leg of the season ends.
I think everything should go better in Monza, as the configuration of this circuit is very different from Zandvoort; moreover, the weather conditions there should be less extreme.
There is no doubt that Monza is a unique circuit, both for its rich history and the boundless energy of the passionate Italian fans. Our goal remains the same: to try to fully exploit the potential of the car to show better results.”
