Haas F1 looks forward to the podium at the renovated circuit in Monza…
Ayo KomatsuTeam Leader: “The biggest challenge is the changes on the track. New asphalt, new curbs, new turning profile. I think we can attack the curbs more actively this year.
The biggest problem is to set up the car for low downforce, but at Monza there are some serious braking situations where the car loses stability. Usually we start with this work straight away, but now the team and the drivers have to adapt to the changes on the track.
Coming from Zandvoort, where maximum downforce is needed, we are faced with completely different problems. In Monza you can overtake, so qualifying is not as important as in Zandvoort. We have a difficult challenge ahead of us, but everyone is on an equal footing.”
Nico Hulkenberg: “Monza is the last really fast circuit on the calendar, and the stage there always stands out. In addition, there is a great atmosphere, a beautiful park, passionate tifosi and a great historical heritage. All this will make the upcoming race special.”
Kevin Magnussen: “A unique stage lies ahead on a historic circuit with a special atmosphere. I am looking forward to feeling the support of the tifosi and competing in Monza. Our car is fast on the straights, I hope we will be competitive.
The low downforce causes the car to lose its usual stability and appear to dance on braking points. It is important to find settings that work on the updated track and use these changes to your advantage.”
