Aggreko becomes official supplier to Formula 1

Formula 1 has adopted a highly ambitious environmental programme, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. The next step in this direction was announced today.

Formula 1 announced the signing of a multi-year partnership agreement with British company Aggreko – in particular, the experience of working with it was reported during the Austrian stage of the championship.

Aggreko is one of the leading developers of innovative energy solutions, mainly mobile energy sources, and its generators are characterized by low CO2 emissions. It is these systems that will be used on all European stages from the 2025 season and Aggreko will become the official supplier of Formula 1.

The experience gained in previous years at the Austrian Grand Prix proved to be very positive, which is why Aggreko equipment was deployed not only in Spielberg, but also at the Hungaroring in 2024, and will be deployed in Monza next weekend. In 2025, it will become the basis of the centralised energy system of the Formula 1 paddock on all European stages.

This means that Formula 1, championship teams and the FIA will no longer need to bring their own generators to races to ensure an uninterrupted power supply – now Aggreko and its specialists will do this.

Ellen Jones, Formula 1’s Chief Environmental Officer, said: “The entire paddock is part of our commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. Low-carbon energy systems combine innovative technological solutions with a centralised approach to their use.

In practice, this means that we can achieve significant CO2 reductions and that we will continue to demonstrate our commitment to our environmental agenda.”
