The day before, Williams announced a replacement in the line-up – from the Italian Grand Prix onwards, Franco Colapinto will compete for the team in place of Logan Sargent. In turn, the American racer released a statement in which he thanked his former team and promised to inform him about his future career plans.
Logan Sargent: “With this news I want to say that I am very grateful to Williams for giving me the opportunity to compete in Formula 1. I am grateful for the support I have received from everyone at the team since I joined the Youth Academy in 2021.
My first experience driving a Formula 1 car in Abu Dhabi was one of the most exciting experiences of my life. Last year in Austin I became the first American driver in 30 years to earn points. I am proud to have represented a team with such a rich history for the past two seasons.
I now need time to evaluate the available options before making a statement about the future when the time comes. Thank you.”
