Norris: Right now I’m just worried about the coming weekend

At the FIA press conference in Monza, Lando Norris said that he did not really celebrate his victory at Zandvoort and that McLaren will not have the same advantage in Monza as a week ago in the Netherlands.

Lando Norris: “I celebrated the success in the Dutch Grand Prix in a completely different way than my first win in Miami. I went straight home, had dinner with a friend, but on Sunday evening my car broke down and I had to push it. That’s why that day didn’t end well. So I just went to bed.

But on Monday I forgot about this episode, and now I laugh more, of course. Victory always brings an incredibly pleasant experience, because I have always dreamed of victories, I wanted to achieve them, but I am not thinking about the championship title yet. I prefer to concentrate on each race separately. And now I am only worried about the upcoming weekend in Monza, ie just my work that I have to do today, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Now the whole life process is dedicated to this. On Monday I thought: “Okay, one race is done, but there are still nine to go.” So I just went back to training and started preparing for the next race. After the win in Zandvoort the mood didn’t change that much: together with the team we know that we have done a great job since the stage in Miami, and the weekend before we just worked perfectly.

Although it is difficult to say how everything will end in Monza, as this circuit is more comparable to Spa, where we performed well, but Red Bull was very fast there – in Belgium they always performed well. But what awaits us in Monza is the question, because a year ago the Italian Grand Prix was one of McLaren’s worst races of that season.

“Overall, we expect that we will have to fight on an equal footing with many of our rivals.”
