After the defeat at Zandvoort, Max Verstappen’s father Jos gave a hard slap from Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner.
“The best people are leaving, new products are not working, Max simply has no chance of winning,” said a dissatisfied Jos. In Monza, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko decided to smooth things over a bit in an interview with Kronen Zeitung.
Helmut Marko: “Jos is Jos. He said what he thought out of emotion. We had some bad results lately, sometimes they were underestimated, and in Zandvoort we went backwards. Of course we all feel the pressure, we have to improve, and for that the updates have to work.
Christian admits mistakes. At one point we took a wrong turn, which affected the balance of the car, but we are not the only ones: this also happened to Ferrari and Mercedes. Only McLaren had no problems. All their new products worked. But we have many strong specialists who can turn the situation around.”
