For Mattio Binotto’s first Grand Prix visit as the new head of Sauber Motorsport, Valtteri Bottas received some new items on Friday and showed a good result…
Valtteri Bottas (11th): “It’s nice to be back in Monza and have a problem-free day. We’ve completed our programme, worked with the settings between sessions and are in better shape now than in Zandvoort. And Monza suits our car better.
Don’t overestimate the results: today is only Friday and by Saturday we have to improve something. Tomorrow everyone will probably be better, so we also have to make a step forward.”
Guanyu Zhou (20th): “It’s nice to return to the legendary circuit and appreciate the work that has been done. A lot of effort has been put into removing the bumps and tidying up the track, making the first laps important for finding new landmarks.
The first training went well, the second was more difficult. In the evening my team and I will figure this out and prepare for tomorrow.
I think we have the opportunity to optimise the settings and achieve greater efficiency, and the results from Valtteri, who has received some new products, are encouraging.”
