Ferrari is optimistic about the results of Friday’s practice sessions at Monza. The new products that the engineers have prepared for the Italian Grand Prix met expectations and the team is closer to its rivals than in the previous phase.
Carlos Sainz (3rd): “Friday proved to be very eventful and interesting. The Monza circuit has changed considerably thanks to new kerbs and asphalt. For this reason, the complexities and constraints are significantly different from those we have been used to in recent years. I had to adapt to the new settings and deal with rubber degradation.
There is still a lot to do tonight to improve our qualifications tomorrow, but overall a positive start to the weekend.”
Charles Leclerc (5th): “Overall a pretty positive day. Our pace is good, the car is driving well and the updates are working as expected. Now all the focus is on balance; there is potential to improve a bit in this area.
Sunday’s race will be tough for everyone. With the new asphalt, monitoring tire wear will be crucial.
We are closer to our rivals than in Zandvoort, but they are still very strong and we still have a lot to do to be competitive tomorrow.”
