On Saturday, the new generation Formula 3 car was unveiled in Monza. Teams from the youth series will use the presented car in the 2025, 2026 and 2027 seasons.
The appearance of the new Formula 3 car is more similar to modern Formula 2 and Formula 1 cars. They use the same safety systems as the older series, according to the latest FIA standards. The car is equipped with a 3.4-liter naturally aspirated Mecachrome engine that produces 380 hp. at 8000 rpm.
The new cars will run on Aramco’s advanced fuel, which is being developed to meet the FIA’s 100% sustainable fuel standard, starting in 2025. In addition, the vehicles will be equipped with new 16-inch Pirelli tires, which will feature a natural rubber component and be Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified from 2025.
The new car will feature several systems such as Virtual Safety Car mode warning, optimised DRS and a new Marelli control unit identical to that of modern Formula 2 cars.
In June, the new Formula 3 car underwent its first tests on the Varano circuit. As part of various tests, Tatiana Calderon has already driven 2,000 kilometers. Further tests will continue until the end of the year.
The Formula 3 team will receive its first cars in late December 2024, with the second and third cars available in mid-January 2025. Formula 3 drivers will be able to try out the new equipment during pre-season testing early next year.
