Sebastian Montoya finished second in the Formula 3 sprint at Monza on Saturday, repeating his best result of the season. However, after the finish, the stewards added five seconds to his result and he lost his place on the podium.
The Campos Racing driver was given a penalty for pushing Santiago Ramos off the track in the battle for second place. After the penalty was imposed, Montoya dropped from second to eleventh place, with Ramos moving up to second and Alex Dunne to third. The riders behind him gained one position each, including three title contenders, with Martinius Stenshorn completing the top ten.
Montoya wasn’t the only one to be given a penalty after the finish. Keane Shields was given a five-second time penalty for a collision with Callum Voisin. Shields moved up from 18th to 20th.
Tasanapol Intrafuwasak was given a 10-second time penalty for overtaking Joseph Lowke while the safety car was on track. Intrafuvasak moved up from 19th to 21st place.
Christian Mansell was given a five-second time penalty for a collision with Sophia Flörsch. After the penalty was imposed, he remained 22nd on the protocol.
Noel Leon will lose five positions at the start of the next race after a collision with Nikola Tsolov.
