Aston Martin boss Mike Krak is unhappy with the results of qualifying in Monza, where the car lacked speed…
Mike Krakteam leader: “The battle in qualifying was exciting, a small difference in a fast lap made the difference. Unfortunately, Lance was hampered by yellow flags at the end of the first session and Fernando missed out on qualifying for the final by a hundredth.
We will see what happens in the race, but we need a faster car to be able to fight in the middle group. Tomorrow we will take every opportunity to earn points.”
Fernando Alonso (11th): “There was no reason for optimism before qualifying, so we can be happy with 11th place. The Monza circuit is not suitable for our car, but I was close to the final – this is a good sign. Tomorrow we will take a step into the unknown, but finishing in the top ten remains the goal.”
Lance walk (17th): “Today I had the chance to qualify for the second part of qualifying, so it is especially disappointing to lose. On the last lap I gained a few tenths, but yellow flags appeared and I had to slow down.
The whole weekend was difficult, we couldn’t find the right pace, but we’ll see how we do in the race tomorrow. The fight is tough, I hope luck is on our side.”
