Sainz: I lost a lot in fast corners

Last year Carlos Sainz started from pole position in Monza, but now he was only fifth…

Charles Leclerc (4th): “Difficult weekend. In the first and second practice I had understeer, then for some reason it disappeared and on Saturday morning everything was better, but in qualifying the problems came back.

“It’s a bit of a shame: we lost everything in the first sector, but were fast in the second and third. The podium doesn’t feel like a victory, but it would be great to finish in the top three tomorrow.”

Carlos Sainz (5th): “In the final of qualifying the asphalt temperature dropped a bit, which affected the performance of the tyres. Compared to the first and second sessions I lost a lot in the fast corners.

“It’s a shame I only finished fifth. I was very happy with the first sector and we increased the angle of attack of the front wing to improve the behaviour of the front, but it was in the way in the fast corners. Maybe the temperature drop cost us that tenth, but we fought.”
