Williams drivers had a successful weekend in Monza – Alex Albon earned points and Franco Colapinto finished his debut race…
Alex Albon (9th): “Good race, I’m happy. We had problems all weekend with the left front tyre granulating, but we got through it and I finished ninth.
The Haas cars beat us on race pace this weekend. We still have some work to do, but the upcoming update gives us hope that we can continue to earn points in the remaining races.
Thanks in part to Franco for a great race, he had an impressive debut weekend.”
Franco Colapinto (12th): “I am very happy to finish my first Formula 1 race, it is a moment I will never forget.
Physically the race was tough, I was a bit tired, everything hurt, but there were many positive moments. Before today I had never driven the FW46 for more than eight laps in a row and today I had to do 53 laps in hot racing conditions.
I think I controlled the tyres well, implemented a one-stop strategy and rode at a good pace.
“I’m very happy for the team. It’s great to get a positive result in my first Grand Prix, after all the hard work they’ve done this weekend to improve my speed. Of course, there’s still work to be done, but I’ll be happy to get back behind the wheel and racing again in two weeks.”
