Several interesting statistical selections after the Italian Grand Prix…
Qualification
Lando Norris won qualifying at Monza to take his fifth career pole and second in a row. This is his fourth pole position in the last seven Grands Prix.
Oscar Piastri showed it for the second time – for the first time since 2012, McLaren drivers occupied the entire front row at Monza.
George Russell qualified third and extended his lead over Lewis Hamilton to 12:4.
Carlos Sainz set the fifth fastest time and celebrated his 30th birthday on Sunday. The last driver to win on his birthday was Jean Alesi for Ferrari in Montreal in 1995.
Max Verstappen’s seventh place is his worst qualifying result since Singapore last year.
Sergio Perez finished eighth, 0.040 seconds shy of overtaking his teammate for the first time since Miami 2023.
Alex Albon qualified ninth after reaching the final on all four attempts at Monza.
One hundredth was not enough for Fernando Alonso to qualify for the final session.
Sauber cars were the slowest for the second weekend in a row.
Race
After winning the Italian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc took his second victory of the season, his second at Monza and the seventh of his career.
Leclerc became the fourth driver to win more than one race this year.
Leclerc’s victory allowed Ferrari to become the first constructor to take twenty victories on a single circuit.
Oscar Piastri finished second and Lando Norris third, giving McLaren its first podium finish at Monza since 2021.
Norris and Piastri have scored the most points in the last five Grands Prix (85 each).

Max Verstappen’s sixth place was equal to his worst result of the season in the races in which he was classified.
George Russell, driving a Mercedes, finished seventh for the second race in a row.
By finishing eighth, Sergio Perez earned points for the 11th consecutive time at Monza – the longest run of any driver.
