We talked about Kimi Raikkonen’s imminent return to US NASCAR racing – this will happen on August 21 on the podium at Watkins Glen. But the Finn has already arrived in the US and visited the Trackhouse Racing team’s base for the first time yesterday, where he started training.
At base, in Charlotte, North Carolina, he meets the team’s staff, undergoes a seat adjustment and begins to feel comfortable behind the wheel of a new car in front of him. Kimi drove several races in NASCAR over a decade ago, during which time the technique has changed, even in such a very conservative series, so basically Kimi has to start from scratch.
But Raikkonen has always had versatile racing skills and can adapt quickly to anything new, so he’s unlikely to have any special problems. We will monitor the progress of the preparation process and wish Kimi every success.
