Kevin Magnussen was given two penalty points for his collision with Pierre Gasly at Monza, after having collected a total of 12 points in the past 12 months. As a result, the Haas driver will miss the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Kevin said he did not understand the stewards’ decision and added that he would not change his approach to fighting on track after serving the fine.
Kevin Magnussen: “I don’t understand anything and I’m completely confused. Gasly and I were fighting hard in turn four, there was a slight contact, we both cut the corner and went back to the track. Neither car was damaged, there were no consequences for our race, but I did get a 10-second time penalty.
You know, Daniel Ricciardo pushed Nico Hulkenberg onto the grass at 300 km/h on the first lap and completely ruined his race. Nico’s car suffered serious damage and Ricciardo was given a 5 second time penalty. Do you see the logic here? I don’t.
“I’m coming back to Singapore and there will be no penalty points. I’ve always said I’m not going to back down, because there’s no point. And my approach allowed me to earn points in Monza. See you later.”
