Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner said balance issues were noticed last season which prevented the team from achieving more.
Christian Horner: “At some circuits, using more downforce than at Monza masked our balance issues.
Usually, when you see an imbalance between the front and rear axles, which complicates the work with tires, you try to compensate for it with the settings, but in our case, by solving one problem, you create another, thus ending up in a vicious circle.
If you study the telemetry carefully, you can see that there were problems at the beginning of the year. The problem first appeared last year – in Austin and on a few other tracks. Our rivals have made progress since then, but as the car developed, the problem became bigger and bigger for us.
“We know what needs to be worked on, everyone at the base is now fully focused on finding a solution. With the pace we had in Monza, both titles are in danger, we need to turn the situation around as quickly as possible. The characteristics of the Italian circuit highlighted the shortcomings of the car compared to last year. Now we need to get the situation under control, otherwise we expose ourselves to enormous risks.”
