The heads of the Red Bull and Ferrari teams said after the Italian Grand Prix that they would contact the FIA for clarification over the apparent bending of the front wings on McLaren and Mercedes cars. During practice at Monza, cameras mounted on the front of the cars showed the elements first folding back and then the entire wing rotating around a horizontal axis.
A statement from the FIA earlier this week acknowledged that the front wings are a complex element, but that all components for all teams comply with the 2024 regulations.
FIA single-seater racing director Nicholas Tombasis explained the federation’s position in an interview with Auto, Motor und Sport.
Nicholas Tombasis: “The FIA will only react in 2025 if necessary. This will not only affect the aerodynamics, but also the structure of the components. Even if we announce new regulations today, the teams will not have time to prepare the changes, not even for Abu Dhabi.”
