Zach O’Sullivan, member of the Williams Racing Academy and ART team driver, released a statement announcing that he was retiring from Formula 2 and would miss all remaining stages of the season. Zach cited lack of funding as the reason for his decision.
“First of all I want to thank ART GP and Williams Racing for all the support they have given me,” Zach wrote on social media. “We have had some incredible moments together this year, including winning Sunday’s race in Monaco.
Unfortunately, in our sport we have to take into account many other factors besides the stopwatch. The simple explanation is that there are problems with the financing, which means I cannot complete this season in Formula 2.
“I am devastated that I will not be able to showcase my talents on the track for the rest of the season, but I am grateful to all the sponsors and everyone who has supported me along the way. Your support has been invaluable and I look forward to performing for you again.”
