Max Verstappen has gone six races without a win. In the preview for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the Red Bull Racing drivers no longer say they will fight for victory, but add that everyone in the team is working on improving the competitiveness of the car.
Max Verstappen: “This week I came to the team base and prepared on the simulator for the upcoming double stages. The race in Monza was difficult and our priority is to get back to the positions we should be in. We want to be more competitive and the team is working hard to solve the problems with the car that we had in the last races.
There are still a series of away stages on the program, the first of which will take place in Baku. A difficult challenge awaits us on an interesting city circuit with long straights. We are ready to fight – we will see what the coming weekend brings.”
Sergio Perez: “After Monza we had time to think and work on everything. I worked with Max at the base to make sure we found solutions to the issues that were preventing the car from having speed. We are getting back to where we need to be and the team is working hard on that every day, both at the base in Milton Keynes and on track. Difficulties have brought everyone together and we are confident that we will go in the right direction.
Baku has a nice route. Personally, I like racing there; the city circuits suit my style. Let’s see how the RB20 performs in Baku. The training is especially important: we need to put everything we’ve learned about the car in the last few weeks into practice.”
