Vasseur: We want to repeat last year’s success in Singapore

Formula 1 teams will race on city circuits for the second time in a row, but unlike the Baku City Circuit, Singapore’s Marina Bay is a more traditional street circuit, but this Grand Prix has its own features: it takes place at night under floodlights.

In Ferrari, who are preparing for it, they note that this will be the 200th Grand Prix in the career of Carlos Sainz and his 82nd race for the Italian team. Incidentally, it was Carlos who won the Singapore Grand Prix last year.

Frederik VasseurTeam boss: “Last weekend we didn’t get the result we were hoping for, but we got confirmation that our car is capable of excellent pace. Moreover, this is happening at a time when Formula 1 races are very spectacular, because the four top teams are now quite similar in terms of speed.

In Singapore, we will have to fight again on a difficult circuit and we want to show again that we are in good shape. Marina Bay is loved by both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz; he won the Singapore Grand Prix last year. We want to repeat that success, for which it is important to continue to act coherently, as a team should work, and we have recently succeeded.

In the previous two races we have seen how important the correct functioning of the tyres is, and in Singapore we will have to use the same soft rubber compounds for the third time in a row. And although all circuits have their own characteristics, we already understand better how such tyres behave on the circuit.

“At the Marina Bay circuit it is of course very important to qualify as well as possible and we are ready for that. I have no doubt that Ferrari will be able to compete with all the rivals.”
