Williams is preparing for the Singapore Grand Prix in the hope that the team can build on the success its drivers achieved in the previous leg, as in Baku Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto earned more points than in the first 16 stages of the Singapore Grand Prix season.
Alex Albon: “After the weekend in Baku, where we both earned points, the team is preparing well for the stage in Singapore. Because this race is very close to Thailand, I feel like I’m at home here, and it’s especially nice for me to compete on this circuit.
It has some similarities to Baku, but the surface is more uneven and it is very hot in Singapore, so we are on the eve of one of the toughest races of the season. But it will be interesting to see how technical innovations will perform in such conditions.
Our aim this weekend is to build on the success we achieved in Baku and to better understand the behaviour of the car, which has undergone additional improvements.”
Franco Colapinto: “After a good result in Baku, it is important to reorganize, shift my attention to another new circuit for me and get to know Marina Bay. The stage in Singapore is known for the fact that, due to the heat and humidity, the physical activity on this circuit is at the highest possible level.
In these conditions it is not easy for any driver, but I have to undergo a real test and find out how my body adapts to driving a Formula 1 car.
As training progresses in preparation for qualifying, I will gradually increase the pace and together with the team we will do everything we can to continue the series of successful performances after Baku.”
