On Friday, the Sauber drivers completed the traditional second practice session…
Valtteri Bottas (20th): “Difficult day. Our car is not efficient enough on this circuit. We tried to find the best balance and made some changes between sessions, but in the end we just took a step back.
We will continue to work to return to the track on Saturday in better shape, gain more speed in free practice and take a step forward for qualifying.”
Guanyu Zhou (19th): “It’s nice to perform in Singapore. Today we finished two training sessions with confidence. We didn’t expect a significant improvement compared to Baku, but it seemed to me that the balance had changed for the better.
The results are very tight, if we find a chance to improve, especially in the first lap with new tyres, we can fight for access to the second part of qualifying.
“But it’s just not going to happen. Every session in Singapore is in different conditions, you have to adapt all the time. It’s really important to get that interaction with the car, when you have confidence and get into the right rhythm, it immediately improves your lap times.”
