Eddie Jordan, manager and close friend of Adrian Newey, has confirmed that the renowned designer will no longer be part of the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team. Newey has begun his mandatory six-month leave of absence and will rejoin Aston Martin on 1 March 2025.
“You didn’t hear from me until September 6th because that was a date that Red Bull had set where we couldn’t say anything at all,” Eddie Jordan told the Formula For Success podcast. “I admire Adrian because he didn’t say a word until the date that Red Bull were allowed to comment.
Adrian is no longer with the team. He started his mandatory vacation. His contract had a date of September 6th and we did everything we could to make sure that was met. I don’t know of anyone who would violate it. Every possible measure was taken to meet the conditions. Adrian proved to be conscientious in this matter.”
Eddie Jordan added that he was very proud of orchestrating Newey’s move from Red Bull Racing to Aston Martin: “This is probably the best thing I’ve done in my professional career. I’m very proud of how elegantly everything was organised.
I’m proud of Red Bull, I’m proud of myself, I’m proud of Adrian and the way he handled this situation.”
