The organizers of the Grand Prix of Miami announced the addition of four new track configurations. This was done to allow the circuit to be used all year round without having to block public roads.
The Formula 1 circuit’s configuration uses part of the Hard Rock Stadium car park that it runs around, meaning that the circuit is only used for one weekend per year. However, the new internal section of track from the original turn 11 and after turn 16 allows the use of those existing sections of track that do not intersect with city roads.
The result is four new configurations, ranging from 2.3 kilometres and 13 turns to 4.5 kilometres and 19 turns, which can accommodate racing and public events all year round.
The largest new configuration is called the Extended Marina Loop and will host the Ferrari Racing Days from May 14-18, 2025, two weeks after the Miami Grand Prix. The Formula 1 round will continue to run in full configuration.
