Formula 3: Charlie Wurz joins Trident

Charlie Wurz, the 18-year-old son of Alex Wurz, former Formula 1 driver and Austrian TV commentator, spent his debut season in Formula 3 this year, but did not achieve outstanding results. His best performance was 5th in Sunday’s race in Melbourne, and overall he finished a distant 22nd in the individual competition at the end of the championship.

However, they say that in 2025 he had the opportunity to move to Formula 2, but he refused it and will spend another season in F3, but will change teams: from the Swiss Jenzer Motorsport he will move to the Italian Trident . It was for this team that the drivers who won titles in the youth series in the last two years competed: Gabriel Bortoleto and Leonardo Fornaroli.

“Charlie doesn’t want to go to F2 yet,” Wurz Sr explains. – Last year we said that Formula 3 usually lasts two years, this allows you to study all the circuits well. But he also preferred the opportunity to compete with the best F3 drivers and learn to deal with pressure.

Of course, expectations will be higher in the second season, but it is even more pleasant to play for a team that has already won this championship.”
